I had the honor of photographing Emily and Garin’s elopement style wedding on a brisk Friday morning in early October. The officiant - a teammate of Garin’s from the University of Minnesota’s swim team. The attendees - their parents, Garin’s brother and seven close friends. The ceremony and reception took place on Boom Island Park with downtown Minneapolis as a backdrop.
The bride and groom, with assistance from family back in Japan, folded 1,000 origami cranes for the wedding. This is a beautiful Japanese tradition. Cranes are believed to mate for life and are a symbol of long life, happiness and good luck.
After the ceremony, I went off with the bride & groom for pictures. Meanwhile friends picked up food catered by the Rusty Taco (my new favorite Mexican food place). When we were done with the pictures of the two of them, lunch was served in the picnic shelter followed by yard games (Kubb and bags).
Below are some of my favorite images from the day. Emily & Garin were so much fun to work with and as you can see, they just killed it!
