She’s from Iowa City, Iowa and he’s from St. Louis, Missouri. They both attended the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Their “meet cute” took place in 2015 on Emily’s birthday. A couple friends took her to Burrito Loco’s Birthday Tuesday Night to celebrate. Garin was also there with teammates from UMN’s swim team. After a few pieces of popcorn were thrown her way they started talking. A few weeks later they had their first date and the rest is history. They are both passionate about biking, cooking, travel, hiking, camping and volleyball. Emily and Garin got engaged this past May. Emily was away visiting her parents, when Garin told her, he had a surprise waiting when she got back. She thought it was going to be a puppy, but instead it was a proposal. Emily said jokingly “it was kind of a win-lose situation”. I met with them recently for an engagement session. The locations - Rice Creek Regional and McCullough Parks in Shoreview. They killed it!
